1. Built in 1883 as a two-room structure
the Marysville schoolhouse quickly became inadequate
and in 1891 a second story was added to accommodate
more than two hundred students in eleven grades. At
this time instruction was provided by as many as nine
teachers.
Presently the school is owned and maintained
by the Marysville Pioneer Association and serves as
a museum and town meeting hall. Through the donation
and efforts of Brian O'Connell in 1957, the second story
of the school was removed and at that time the schoolhouse
was restored to its original form.
